The game received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its storytelling, visuals, art design and originality, although the game was also criticized for the repetitive nature of its gameplay. Assassin's Creed won several awards at E3 in 2006, as well as several end-year awards after its release. The game spawned a sequel, Assassin's Creed II, which was released in November 2009. Since the release and success of Assassin's Creed II, subsequent releases have been yearly - with the exception of 2016 - with various other Assassins and time periods.

Multiplayer also returns, albeit with only land-based modes and settings. The game spans across the Caribbean with the three main cities of Havana, Nassau and Kingston along with numerous islands, sunken ships, and forts. The story is set in Parisduring the French Revolution, the single-player story follows Arno Dorian in his efforts to expose the true powers behind the Revolution. The game retains the series' third-person open world exploration as well as introducing a revamped combat, parkour and stealth system.

Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad (1165 – 1257) was a Syrian-born member of theLevantine Brotherhood of Assassins and served as their Mentor from 1191 until his death in 1257. During his tenure as Mentor, Altaïr made several discoveries and inventions that greatly helped the Order's progression. His leadership saw to the spread of the Assassins' influence in the Old World.

Raised to be an Assassin from birth, Altaïr became a Master Assassinat age 25, the youngest to obtain the rank by that time. He failed to recover an Apple of Eden from Robert de Sablé in July 1191 and subsequently allowed the Templars to attack the town of Masyaf, headquarters of the Assassins. For this, he was demoted to the rank of novice and sent on a quest for redemption.

Tasked with the deaths of nine individuals who, unbeknownst to him, made up the ranks of the Templar Order in the Holy Land, Altaïr began a quest to change his ways and liberate the Kingdom from their corruption. During his quest however, Altaïr learned of a plot far more sinister than he originally believed. In completing his mission, he also cleansed the Order of its treacherous leader Al Mualim. Altaïr thereafter became Mentor, taking the Assassins in a new, more secretive direction.

With the Apple in hand, Altaïr changed the way members of his Order lived their lives, writing the details in his fabled Codex for later generations of the Order to read. Altaïr's vision of the Assassin Order was for them to be spread across the world, living among the people, and he began establishing many Assassins Guilds during his tenure as Mentor. Throughout his travels, Altaïr strengthened his Order, stopping various Templar plots over the years as well as halting the inexorable march of Genghis Khan. Altaïr is an ancestor to Desmond Miles, through the maternal line.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze (1459 – 1524) was a Florentine nobleman during the Renaissance, and, unbeknownst to most historians and philosophers, the Mentor of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins, a title which he held from 1503 to 1513. He is also an ancestor toWilliam and Desmond Miles, as well as Clay Kaczmarek.

A member of the House of Auditore, Ezio remained unaware of his Assassin heritage until the age of 17, when he witnessed the hanging of his father and two brothers, Federico and Petruccio. Forced to flee his birthplace with his remaining family members - his mother andsister - Ezio took refuge with his uncle in the Tuscan town ofMonteriggioni, at the Villa Auditore.

After learning of his heritage from Mario, Ezio began his Assassin training and set about on his quest for vengeance against theTemplar Order, and their Grand Master, the Spaniard Rodrigo Borgia, who had ordered the execution of his kin.

During his travels, Ezio managed to not only unite the pages of theCodex, written by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Mentor of the Levantine Assassins, but also to save the cities of Florence, Venice, and Romefrom Templar rule.

He ensured the future travels of Christopher Columbus to the New World, liberated Rome from Borgia rule, and prevented the rise to power of Ercole Massimo's Cult of Hermes, helping spread the Renaissance and Assassin ideals of independence and free will throughout Italy.

In the years that followed, Ezio began a quest to rediscover the lost history of the Order. Traveling to the aged fortress of Masyaf in order to learn more of the Assassins before him, he discovered it overrun with Templars and made his way to the city of Constantinople to uncover the location of the Masyaf keys which, as he discovered, would unlock the fortress's fabled hidden library when brought together.

A decade later, Ezio had retired and resided in a Tuscan villa with his wife, Sofia Sartor, and his two children; Flavia and Marcello. Some time after helping teach the Chinese Assassin Shao Jun the ways of the Order, Ezio died of a heart attack at the age of 65, during a visit to Florence with his wife and daughter.

Ratonhnhaké:ton (1756 – unknown), often known by the adopted name of Connor, was a Master Assassin of the Colonial Brotherhoodof Assassins during the period of the American Revolutionary War. Born into the Kanien'kehá:ka tribe, he is an ancestor of Desmond Miles, through the paternal line.[2]

Ratonhnhaké:ton was born to the Templar Haytham Kenway andKaniehtí:io, a Kanien'kehá:ka woman from the village ofKanatahséton. In 1760, while he was still a young child, he was assaulted by Charles Lee and other members of the Templar Order seeking the First Civilization temple which the Kanien'kehá:ka were protecting, and lost his mother shortly after during the burning of his village by George Washington's forces. Ratonhnhaké:ton himself however, believed the Templars to be responsible for the attack.

Growing up concerned by the outside world's impact on his people, Ratonhnhaké:ton joined the Assassin Order to prevent the Templars from returning. Finding the Templars had all but destroyed the Colonial Assassins, Ratonhnhaké:ton convinced Achilles Davenport to train him. Adopting the more Western-sounding pseudonym of 'Connor', he revitalized the Order by recruiting craftsmen to renovate the Davenport Homestead and the Assassin ship, the Aquila. Robert Faulkner subsequently trained him to captain the ship, while Ratonhnhaké:ton inducted six more Assassins into the Order.

During his hunt for the Templars, Ratonhnhaké:ton aided the Patriot movement and protected George Washington, unwittingly becoming an important figure of the American Revolution. However, he was conflicted by wanting to reconcile with his father, despite Achilles' warnings as to the futility of uniting the Assassin and Templar philosophies, which ultimately had tragic consequences as Haytham refused to stop protecting Lee.

Upon learning that it was Washington, not Lee, who had burned his village, Ratonhnhaké:ton became disillusioned with the Revolutionaries, but continued using them to aid in the eradication of the Templars. He reluctantly accepted Washington's request for help investigating Benedict Arnold and then in disposing of an Apple of Eden he had recovered. The latter incident saw Ratonhnhaké:ton trapped in an alternate reality constructed by the Apple, one wherein Washington ruled as king through tyranny. Eventually, Ratonhnhaké:ton escaped this reality and disposed of the Apple.

    Edward James Kenway (1693 – 1735) was a Welsh-born Britishprivateer-turned-pirate and a member of the Assassin Order.

Born to farmers, Edward sought to acquire riches and fame. He became a privateer for the Royal Navy early in his life and, once accepted, found himself stationed in the West Indies. However, a quick end to the War of the Spanish Succession and the promise of gold, glory and fame eventually seduced him into a life of piracy. It was during this quest that Edward first encountered the Assassin andTemplar Orders, and became embroiled in their struggle.

Over the next few years, Edward struggled with the internal conflict that arose from his desire for fame and riches - through finding theObservatory - and his duty to his friends. After losing nearly all of his closest friends, he realized the folly of his quest for glory. He then joined the Assassin Order, hunted down the Templars in the region and entrusted the Observatory to the Assassins.

After a decade in the West Indies, Edward returned to Britain and received a pardon from Robert Walpole. He soon acquired an estate in London and married Tessa Stephenson-Oakley, with whom he fathered a son named Haytham. He quickly joined the British Brotherhood of Assassins, rising up to the rank of Master Assassin, and eventually, leader. Continuing his work as an Assassin, Edward researched the First Civilization, and kept the research in a journal. In 1735, he was killed by mercenaries in the employ of Templar Grand Master Reginald Birch, in order to acquire the journal. Haytham would later father Ratonhnhaké:ton; through this line, Edward is an ancestor of William Miles, and his son, Desmond.

In 2013, an Abstergo Entertainment research analyst was tasked with exploring Edward's genetic memories in order to gather footage for a planned video game, Pirates of Nightmares.

Shay Patrick Cormac (1731 – unknown) was a member of theColonial Rite of the Templar Order during the 18th century.

Born to Irish immigrants in New York, Shay lost his parents at an early age, and was brought into the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassins by his childhood friend Liam O'Brien, where the two served under theMentor Achilles Davenport.

In 1751, the Templars stole two Pieces of Eden in the Brotherhood's possession: the Precursor box and the Manuscript. The following year, after acquiring a sloop-of-war, the Morrigan, Shay was tasked with recovering the ancient artifacts. While he and Liam hunted down the Templars in possession of the Pieces of Eden, Shay began to question the Assassins' methods.

After recovering the artifacts, Shay and his fellow Assassin, Hope Jensen, used them to discern the location of a First CivilizationTemple in Lisbon. Achilles promptly sent Shay to Lisbon in 1755, believing that the Temple held an Apple of Eden. When he accessed the Temple however, Shay inadvertently triggered a massive earthquake, leaving thousands dead or homeless. His faith in the Brotherhood shattered, Shay resolved to keep them from finding more temples by stealing the Manuscript from them, nearly losing his life in the process.

The Templar George Monro had the unconscious Shay brought under the care of Barry and Cassidy Finnegan in New York. Upon recovering, Shay met Monro and his fellow Templar Christopher Gist, and began working with them to reclaim the Morrigan and bring down he Assassin-allied gangs of the city. After Monro was killed by Liam in the aftermath of the Siege of Fort William Henry, Shay was inducted into the Templar Order, working with Grand Master Haytham Kenwayto help the British Empire win the Seven Years' War and destroy the Colonial Assassins by hunting down his former compatriots.

In 1760, a final confrontation in the Arctic left Liam dead, Achilles crippled and without followers and the Manuscript in Templar hands. Shay would spend the next 16 years searching for the Precursor box, leading him to Versailles, where he killed the Assassin Charles Dorianand reclaimed the artifact in 1776.

He was subsequently raised alongside de la Serre's daughter, Élise.

In 1789, de la Serre was murdered as part of a coup within the Templar Order, and Arno was framed for his death. Imprisoned at theBastille, he met the Assassin Pierre Bellec, who told Arno of his Assassin heritage. Wracked with guilt for his past failures, Arno started upon a path of redemption and thus joined the Brotherhood, working to uncover the true instigators of the revolution, while also avenging his father and adoptive father in the process.

Throughout his journey, Arno gained various allies, including Antoine Lavoisier, Marquis de Sade, Georges Danton, Napoleon Bonaparteand Élise, who was now a Templar opposing the radical faction within her Order. When the Assassin Mentor Honoré Mirabeau accepted an alliance with her on behalf of the Brotherhood, Bellec poisoned him, and Arno was forced to kill Bellec in turn.

Arno and Élise later discovered that François-Thomas Germain had orchestrated de la Serre's death and was manipulating the revolution in the Templars' favor. After killing his subordinates, they tracked him down to the Temple in July 1794. During a final confrontation, both Élise and Germain were killed, leaving Arno depressed and cynical.

After accepting a mission from de Sade in Franciade, Arno met a young boy named Léon. Together, they discovered that Napoleon planned to use an artifact buried underneath the town to take control over France. Initially hesitant to take action, Arno eventually regained his sense of duty and decided to stop Napoleon's plans, recovering the artifact, which turned out to be an Apple of Eden, and sending it toEgypt.

In 2014, his genetic memories were studied by both Abstergo Entertainment and an unidentified member of the Initiates hacker group.

Originating from Crawley, Evie and her brother traveled to London to liberate London from the Templars' control and help the poverty-stricken masses , following the death of their father by natural causes. To accomplish this, she and Jacob founded the Rooks, a criminal syndicate that opposed the Templar-backed Blighters.

While Jacob focused on eliminating targets instrumental to Crawford Starrick's operations, Evie pursued the Shroud of Eden, a First Civilization artifact hidden within the city. In doing so, she regularly came into conflict with Lucy Thorne, Starrick's second-in-command and an expert on the Pieces of Eden.

Aveline de Grandpré (1747 – unknown) was an Assassin of Frenchand African heritage, who lived in the area of New Orleans during the middle of the 18th century. She is an ancestor to "Subject 1".

Born to the wealthy French merchant Philippe de Grandpré and an African slave by the name of Jeanne, Aveline was raised in a comfortable and privileged environment. After her mother disappeared in 1757, Aveline was cared for and brought up by her stepmother, Madeleine de L'Isle, whom her father had married five years prior.

Shrewd by nature, Aveline noticed the contrasts present within the society she lived in and, at the age of twelve, resolved to act against this injustice. Following an attempt to rescue a man from enslavement, she met the Assassin Agaté, who was impressed by her dedication to pursuing freedom. He decided to take Aveline under his wing, training her to become an official member of the Brotherhood.

Aveline subsequently grew into her role of an Assassin, fighting to defend the oppressed slaves of New Orleans. At the age of eighteen, she became aware of a slave trafficking enterprise being run in New Orleans by a high-ranking Templar, known only as the "Company Man". Hunting down several of his subordinates, Aveline sought to shut down the Templar's operations and eventually discovered the slaves' destination, a work camp in Chichen Itza.

After she liberated said slave community from Templar influence, procuring a valuable First Civilization artifact in the process, Aveline returned to New Orleans to resume her hunt for the Company Man. Several years later, she journeyed to New York to pursue a lead that would allow her to uncover the Templar's true identity. In this, she was aided by the Kanien'kehá:ka Assassin, Ratonhnhaké:ton, known by his adopted name of Connor.

With his help, Aveline discovered the Company Man had been her own stepmother all along. Following a short confrontation at the de Grandpré mansion, Aveline fled to the Louisiana Bayou to inform Agaté, with disastrous consequences. She then returned to Madeleine, pretending to go along with her induction into the Templar Order, before she assassinated all the members present, thus finally ridding New Orleans of Templar influence.

In 2012, her genetic memories became the basis of a publicly released video game titled Liberation, which was developed in partnership by Abstergo Entertainment and Ubisoft.

Jun and herMentor, Zhu Jiuyuan, fled west to seek out the retired Italian AssassinMentor, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Two years later, Shao Jun returned to China to take her revenge on those who previously destroyed the Brotherhood. Over the course of six years, together with a Master Assassin named Wang Yangming, she successfully eliminated all of the Tigers, prevented a Mongolianinvasion and, despite Wang's death, rebuilt the Chinese Brotherhood and spearheaded it as its new Mentor. By 1567, Jun devised a plan to poison the Jiajing Emperor by using the elixir of life, which eventually claimed the life of the cruel monarch.

In September 2012, Desmond was kidnapped and incarcerated byAbstergo Industries, a*Templar*organization, and forced into a machine called the*Animus*to relive the*genetic memories*of his ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. It was Abstergo's aim to acquire a map that detailed many "Pieces of Eden" spread across the Earth, which Desmond was reluctantly successful in doing. Following this, he managed to escape Abstergo with the help of*Lucy Stillman, an undercover Assassin, and joined an Assassin cell in*Italy, which consisted of herself,*Shaun Hastings*and*Rebecca Crane. Utilizing an upgraded Animus of Rebecca's construction, Desmond relived the memories of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, in order to improve upon his newly obtained skills.

Eventually, with the knowledge gained from Ezio's memories, Desmond and his fellow Assassins obtained the location of*Ezio's Apple of Eden, which was located underneath the*Colosseum. Rashid ad-Din Sinan (1135 – 1191), also known as Al Mualim(English: The Mentor) and often nicknamed the Old Man of the Mountain, was the Mentor of the Levantine Brotherhood ofAssassins until his death in 1191, and the tutor to his eventual successor: Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.

Rashid's desire to obtain an Apple of Eden led to him secretly working with the Knights Templar, sworn enemies of his own Order.Despite this, Rashid's teachings and work during his lifetime had a positive influence on the Assassins going forward.

Robert de Sablé (unknown – 1191) was the Grand Master of theOrder of the Knights Templar from 1190 until his death, and a lieutenant in King Richard I's Crusader army.

Born into a powerful family, Robert was immersed in nobility from birth. He eventually became lord and ruler of the Sarthe region of Anjou, France. Subsequently, Robert entered the order of the Knights Templar and reigned as their Grand Master in 1191.

During the Third Crusade, Robert and the Knights Templar, alongside the rest of the Crusader army, laid siege to the city of Acre, which soon fell. Throughout August 1191, they also recaptured many fortresses and cities along the Palestinian coast, which had previously been lost.

Rodrigo Borgia (1431 – 1503), born Roderic Llançol i de Borja, was the head of the Catholic Church from 11 August 1492 until his death, serving as Pope Alexander VI. From 1476, he reigned as Grand Master of the Templar Order in Italy.

Originally hailing from Spain, Rodrigo moved to Italy where he studied and joined the Catholic Church. Using the influence he gained from his clerical position, Rodrigo conspired several plots to murder political leaders across the country to claim it under the Templar banner. As one of the wealthiest men in Europe, Rodrigo's power as Grand Master spread all over the continent.

In 1488, Rodrigo was responsible for shipping an Apple of Eden fromCyprus to Venice, before it was stolen by his arch enemy Ezio Auditore da Firenze and the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins. In 1492, via several bribes and power plays, Rodrigo won the Papal conclave, and became one of the most controversial Renaissance popes.

Under the leadership of the Borgia, the Templars focused primarily on establishing their power and control in Europe, losing sight of their true ideology. The Templars commonly refer to this era as the "Dark Age of the Order".

Cesare Borgia (1475 – 1507) was an illegitimate son of Rodrigo Borgia and a nemesis of the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Like his father, he was a member of the Templar Order. Eventually, he became Captain General of the Papal armies, though he secretly plotted against his father to take over Rome, and all of Italy afterward.

Prior to his father's death, he claimed the rank of Grand Master of the Templars in Italy, usurping the title completely after murdering his father. Despite his loyalty to the Templars, they were a secondary concern when compared to his own desire to control the powers ofthe Apple.

Ahmet (1465 – 1512) was an Ottoman Şehzade (Prince), and the oldest son of Bayezid II. He was also the elder brother of Selim I andKorkut, and uncle of Suleiman I.

Tired of the feuds that divided men, Ahmet joined the Templar Order, eventually becoming the leader of the Byzantine Templars, while simultaneously having been chosen as the heir of his father, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

Believing that he was guaranteed control over the Ottoman Empire, Ahmet started an expedition to find the Masyaf Keys needed to open the hidden library in Masyaf. Here, he believed he would find the location of the "Grand Temple", and intended to use the power hidden there to further the Templar cause.

Eventually, Ahmet's efforts were thwarted by the combined efforts of the Ottoman Assassins and their Italian Assassin ally, the Mentor Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Ultimately, Ahmet's father chose Selim as his heir instead; during Selim's march to Constantinople, he happened upon Ahmet and swiftly killed him.

Charles Lee (1732 – 1782) was a British soldier and veteran of theFrench and Indian War, as well as a member of the Templar Order. After his induction into the Order, Lee took a position as Haytham Kenway's second-in-command, and it was in this role that he later joined the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary Waras a General.

Throughout the Revolution, Lee competed against his political rival and superior, Commander George Washington, with the ultimate aim of taking control of the Patriot leadership and handing the newly formed nation over to his Templar brothers.

Following Haytham's death in 1781, Lee briefly became the Grand Master of the Colonial Rite of the Templar Order, until his own death in 1782, at the hands of Haytham's son, the AssassinRatonhnhaké:ton.

Laureano José de Torres Ayala a Duadros Castellanos, marqués de Casa Torres (1645 – 1722) was the Spanish Governor of Florida from 1693 to 1699, Governor of Cuba on two occasions between 1707 and 1716, as well as the Grand Master of the Templar Order in theCaribbean.

    *note De kale is Liam

Liam O'Brien (1726 – 1760) was a member of the Assassin Orderoperating in the British Colonies during the Seven Years' War. A childhood friend of Shay Cormac, Liam was responsible for bringing Shay into the Brotherhood. In spite of Liam being a few years older than him, Shay formed a brotherly bond with him, even though Liam was wiser and more experienced.

François-Thomas Germain (1726 – 1794) was a French silversmith,Sage and Grand Master of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Orderduring the French Revolution.

After experiencing visions of the First Civilization and reading theCodex Pater Intellectus, he took it upon himself to reform the Order, which he believed had grown corrupt after aligning itself with the aristocracy for centuries. Inspired by Grand Master Jacques de Molay, Germain sought to carry out the "Great Work" and create acapitalist society in which the Templars could more easily control the populace.

Grand Master François de la Serre regarded his ideas as being too radical, and exiled him from the Order. Germain eventually began turning de la Serre's advisors to his cause, forming a radical faction within the Templar Order. In 1789, he had de la Serre assassinated in the Palace of Versailles, leaving most of the Order under his control.

As the French Revolution broke out, Germain and his followers exploited discontent with the monarchy and sought to create as much chaos as possible. In this way, the aristocracy and clergy would be crushed and the populace would fear the idea of rising against the establishment again. The Templars hoarded food and framed the royal family, eventually leading to the execution of King Louis XVI in 1793. Under the Templar Maximilien de Robespierre, the Reign of Terror began, bringing the revolution to a violent and chaotic climax.

Along the way, Élise de la Serre, the daughter of the deceased Grand Master, opposed Germain. She and her lover, the Assassin Arno Dorian, eventually eliminated Germain's followers and tracked him down to the Temple in 1794. After the Grand Master killed Élise with aSword of Eden, he himself was killed by Arno. In his final moments, Germain triggered a vision, telling the Assassin that his goals of reforming society and the Templar Order had already succeeded, even if he would not live to see the changes.

Crawford Starrick (1827 – 1868 ) was the owner of Starrick Industries, and the Grand Master of the British Rite of the Templar Order by 1868.

Armand Bouchart (unknown – 1193) was the Grand Master of theKnights Templar, successor to Robert de Sablé following the latter's death in 1191. During his tenure, Armand relocated the Templar Archive from the island of Cyprus to an unknown location, so as to protect it from encroaching Assassin forces.

Madeleine de L'Isle (1732 – 1777) served as Master Templar in the Southern Colonies of America, operating under the alias of the "Company Man". Living in New Orleans, she was the second wife of the wealthy French merchant Philippe de Grandpré, though she was the first to be legally recognized.

After Madeleine discovered proof that a First Civilization artifact was located in Mexico, she devised a plan to acquire workers to excavate it. She subsequently entrusted the execution of said plan to her right-hand man, Rafael Joaquín de Ferrer.

Simultaneously, she noticed the potential of her stepdaughter, Aveline de Grandpré, and decided to groom her for membership in theTemplar Order. Manipulating Aveline's biological mother Jeanne into leaving New Orleans, Madeleine then adopted the role of doting stepmother. When her stepdaughter later joined the Assassins, Madeleine managed to subtly procure valuable information on the Brotherhood, allowing her to become the head Templar of Louisiana.

In 1765, the slave trafficking operation that Madeleine had orchestrated was discovered by Aveline, who immediately started a journey to find and dismantle it. As the years went by, the Master Templar would see her activities shut down and most of her subordinates eliminated.

When her identity as the Company Man was eventually uncovered in 1777, Madeleine invited Aveline to join her Order, to which her stepdaughter agreed. Confident she had secured Aveline's alliance, Madeleine was then assassinated by her stepdaughter, who had merely pretended to go along with her induction to eliminate the Templars from within.

Zhang Yong (1470 – 1532) was the leader of the Eight Tigers, a group of powerful Templar eunuchs that controlled the Chinese imperial court during the Ming dynasty.

Sir William Henry Sleeman (1788 – 1856) was a British soldier and administrator in British India, as well as a Master Templar of theBritish Rite of the Templar Order.

Daniel Cross (1974 – 2012) was a member of the Templar Order, and a sleeper agent tasked with the infiltration of the Assassin Brotherhood, in order to assassinate its Mentor. An ex-convict and recovering drug and alcohol addict, Daniel was the grandson ofInnokenti Orelov, and the great-grandson of Nikolai Orelov, a prominent member of the Russian Assassin Brotherhood.

In 1998, following a heavy night of drinking, Daniel was spirited away by Hannah Mueller, a member of the Assassins, and introduced to a new way of life. Curious about his constant visions of a past life, Daniel made it his mission to confront the Mentor of the Order, and find some meaning to his life.

For two years, Daniel searched the globe, visiting every major Assassin camp in his quest to meet the Mentor, before he was finally granted an audience. It was during this meeting that a long-dormant trigger, implanted in his mind during his childhood, activated.

Daniel killed the Mentor, and fled the Assassins, returning to the only people he knew would accept him, Abstergo Industries. There, he joined the Templar ranks, becoming a Master Templar and a member of the Inner Sanctum by 2012.

In mid-2012, Daniel captured former-Assassin Desmond Miles and brought him to Abstergo for participation in Warren Vidic's Animus Project. Following Desmond's escape and the failure of Project Siren, Daniel tracked down and confronted him numerous times around the world in an attempt to retrieve his Apple of Eden for Vidic. Ultimately, Desmond assassinated Daniel during their final confrontation in Abstergo's Rome facility.

Warren Vidic (unknown – 2012) was a member of the Templar Orderand a scientist employed by Abstergo Industries. As the head of research for Abstergo, Vidic was put in charge of the genetic memoryresearch and the Animus project.

As the one responsible for finding new subjects for the Animus, Warren would have them explore their genetic memories, which he would then analyse to gain information on both the Assassins and thePieces of Eden.

Being a high-ranking employee of Abstergo Industries, Warren was one of the few members of the Inner Sanctum, a group of Templars with full awareness of the Orders' plans for their New World. He also played an important role in those plans, being tasked with finding a Piece of Eden to power Eye-Abstergo.

Juhani Otso Berg (born 1985) is a former member of the Finnish Special Forces, and by 2012, a high-ranking agent of the Operations Division of Abstergo Industries. Later, in December of that year, Berg was inducted into the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order.

Alan Rikkin is the current Chief Executive Officer of Abstergo Industries and a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order. He holds the position of Guardian within the Order, answering directly to the General of the Cross.

    Main characters from the comics

Aquilus (unknown – 259) was a Gallo-Roman member of theAssassin Brotherhood in Lugdunum, and is a distant ancestor toDesmond Miles.

In 259, Aquilus was tasked with the assassination of several high-ranked individuals within the Roman Empire. Having failed to assassinate his third target, General Gracchus, Aquilus met up with his cousin Accipiter – an Aleman and a fellow Assassin – from whom he obtained an ancient artifact known as the "Ankh", formerly held by the Egyptian goddess Isis.

After his father was murdered and the Ankh was stolen by the Roman Senator Caïus Fulvus Vultur, Aquilus traveled from Lugdunum to the Empire's capital of Rome, seeking vengeance. Successful in his objective, he returned home with the artifact, discovering more of its abilities. Eventually, Aquilus was executed by Roman soldiers.

Accipiter was an Aleman general and a member of the Assassin Order. In 259 CE, Accipiter was in a leading position of the Alemanni forces, leading them in battle across Gaul, hoping to conquer the region.

    The Artifacts

    Pieces of Eden

The Pieces of Eden were technologically advanced devices created by the Isu for various purposes. Each possessed unique properties suited to the purposes for which it was designed, with some capable of bending the thoughts of one or more individuals to the will of the user.

The Ankh was a Piece of Eden capable of healing the sick, and temporarily resurrecting the dead. It also acted as a recording device, storing the mannerisms of a living person and being able to return those mannerisms to a corpse.

Initially used by the Egyptian goddess Isis to resurrect her husbandOsiris and to help Egyptian pharaohs, the Ankh was later transported to Rome after having been looted from a pyramid. There, the Ankh wound up around Lugdunum, in the hands of the Assassins, who held on to it despite Templar attempts to take it.

The Ankh was later rumored to be located in central Europe, but was not known to have been recovered. By 2014, Juhani Otso Bergtraveled to Europe to try and recover the item

The Apples of Eden were Pieces of Eden, a type of technology made by Isu.

Having outlived their creators, the Apples featured prominently, although abstrusely, throughout recorded history as the cause of several 'divine' and 'superhuman' events; these included the Trojan War, the parting of the Red Sea, or Adam and Eve being cast out ofEden.

Apple of Eden #1 was one of the Pieces of Eden, a piece of ancient and technologically advanced equipment created by the Isu to controlhumankind. It was the first among several other Apples of Eden.

    Nikola Tesla (1874 - ?)
    Thomas Edison (? - ?)
    Henry Ford (? - ?)
    Adolf Hitler (? - 1945)
    Assassins (1945 - ?)

Apple of Eden #5 was a Piece of Eden, a piece of ancient and technologically advanced equipment created by the Isu to controlhumankind, their workforce.

This artifact was one of the dozen of Apples sent into the sky in an effort to protect the Earth from the solar flare in 75010 BCE, and over time, the Apple settled on the Moon, where the artifact was subsequently retrieved from its surface by the Templars in 1969.

    Notable wielders
    NASA

The Apple of Eden wielded by Ezio Auditore da Firenze during theRenaissance was an ancient, yet technologically advanced piece of equipment created by the Isu.

The Crystal Balls were Pieces of Eden that allowed their wielders access to the Nexus, a place where individuals could speak across centuries and where members of the First Civilization communicated with people across the timeline. The Crystal Balls were round in shape and possessed lines and size similar to the Apples of Eden.

The first known Crystal Ball was in the possession of the English scientist Edward Kelley, who used it during his time in the Austrian royal court to gain insight from the First Civilization. He used it in his research to develop new advances in technology, becoming the personal scientist of the Austrian ruler in the process. However, the Ball was taken by Kelley's brother to keep him from abusing its power.[2]

A second Crystal Ball was possessed by the Kanien'kehá:ka inKanatahséton. This one was used by Ratonhnhaké:ton to enter the Nexus, where he communicated with Juno. She directed him to become a member of the Assassin Order, with the secret intent of allowing him to come into the possession of the key to the Grand Temple. Ratonhnhaké:ton later used the ball again, and Juno then told him to hide the key somewhere where nobody would find it, while she knew that Ratonhnhaké:ton's descendant Desmond Miles would later find it and unlock the door inside the Grand Temple. After this final use, the artifact disintegrated into dust.

The Crystal Skulls were Pieces of Eden that functioned as communication and observational devices. Created by the First Civilization, three distinct variations of Crystal Skulls have been discovered so far.

The first type functioned much like modern telephone devices, allowing communication between all who possess a device. The second type has a record-and-playback function, allowing a user to record and send audio-visual messages to others who possessed a counterpart Crystal Skull. While the third worked as a monitoring devices, projecting audio-visual surveillance through connection with a living being's blood in a vial.

The Crystal Skulls have notably been found in the remains of the old pre-Columbian civilizations of the Americas.

Patience Gibbs' charm was a Piece of Eden owned by Patience's family, which was passed down from mother to daughter as an heirloom. It was said to give its user strength and foresight.

The Fountain of Youth was a Piece of Eden located in Florida. Legend says that drinking the fountain's waters would grant eternal youth.

During the Age of Discovery, several European explorers tried to find and claim the fountain as their own. In 1521, the Spanish Templar-influenced explorer Juan Ponce de León journeyed to Florida to obtain the artifact. The Assassins in Florida were determined to stop Ponce de León, and sent Miguel Ramón Carlo de Lugo to convince him to abandon his quest and turn back. When Ponce de León refused, the Assassins struck him with a poisoned arrow that would later result in his death.

The Grand Temple Key was an amulet-like Piece of Eden that functioned primarily as a key for the Eye in the Grand Temple, New York.

In 1754, the key was in the possession of the Assassin Miko. On the orders of Templar Grand Master Reginald Birch, Haytham Kenwayassassinated the man inside the Theatre Royal in London and took the key from him. Upon Haytham's return to the Templar headquarters, Birch told Haytham that the key most likely opened a First Civilizationstorehouse in the British colonies. As a result, Birch booked Haytham passage to Boston, in order to find it and unlock its contents, and to establish a permanent Templar presence in colonial America.

During 1755, Haytham, with the help of Kaniehtí:io from the Kanien'kehá:ka nation, located the entrance to the Grand Temple, but they were unable to access it, as he did not possess an Apple of Eden to open the first door. Following this, Haytham kept the amulet in his possession until 1781, when he passed it on to his second-in-command, Charles Lee.

In the following year, the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton, Haytham's son, killed Charles Lee in Monmouth and took the amulet from him. He later returned to his village, Kanatahséton, where he activated his tribe's Crystal Ball he had used years earlier to communicate with Juno. Juno greeted Ratonhnhaké:ton again, and told him to hide the amulet where none might find it. Following this, he made his way back to the manor at the Davenport Homestead and hid the key in the grave of Connor Davenport, after whom Ratonhnhaké:ton's mentor Achilles Davenport had nicknamed him.

In 2012, Ratonhnhaké:ton's descendant, Desmond Miles, relived his memories inside the Animus and found out that the key was hidden in Connor Davenport's grave. After having retrieved it, Desmond used it to open the inner gateway of the Grand Temple.

The Koh-i-Noor (English: Mountain of Light), or Syamantaka Mani as it was formerly known, was a Piece of Eden in the form of a diamond that held such an immense amount of power that it could bind all of the other Pieces' fates. It was also rumored that only God or women could control its power.

Memory Seals were First Civilization artifacts with the ability to contain recorded memories. They were said to be the technological basis of theAnimus device of Abstergo Industries.

Prophecy Disks are ancient artifacts made by the First Civilization, capable of recording audio-visual messages and splitting into two parts, though requiring an amulet to be activated. Two shards of one such disk were located in the First Civilization ruins beneath the Mayan city ofChichen Itza.

The Assassin Aveline de Grandpré found the aforementioned Prophecy Disk in Chichen Itza in the mid-18th century, journeying to the former city twice to obtain the two halves. She later took the artifact with her toNew Orleans in 1777, offering it to her stepmother Madeleine de L'Isle – the Master Templar in the southern colonies of North America – during her feigned conversion to the Templar Order.

After killing her stepmother and the other Templars present, Aveline activated the Prophecy Disk, by placing the amulet given to her by her mother, Jeanne. Aveline witnessed a message recorded during the human rebellionagainst the First Civilization, showing the election of Eve as the rebel leader.

The Precursor boxes are ancient artifacts created by the First Civilization, capable of interacting with other Pieces of Eden to accomplish amazing feats.

Once powered by lightning, one box was able to decypher the First Civilization language written in the Voynich manuscript, giving the location of the Seismic Temples. Using the Koh-i-Noor to power another box, the Templars used the artifact to translate the writings in the Amritsar Temple to locate the emplacement of other Temples.

Combined with Staves of Eden, the boxes also demonstrated to have the ability to imprint the memories of someone into another individual, like in 1918 when Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia ended up with the memories of Shao Jun.

The Rings of Eden were ring-like Pieces of Eden, which were invented by the First Civilization to serve as personal shields for their wearers. The Rings projected an electromagnetic field which protected their wearers from magnetic projectile damage, as well as charges from energy-based weapons. However, Rings did not grant the wearer complete immunity. Rings could also be used in conjunction with a shielding device, which would project a blue, spherical field over a given area when used.

The Scepter of Aset, or Piece of Eden #24, was an ancient artifact ofFirst Civilization origin, which conferred charisma and leadership to its wielder. It belonged to Isis, also known as Aset, a member of the First Civilization.

The Seismic Pieces of Eden were Isu artifacts stored within at least three different Seismic Temples spread across the world. Described as "Trees" by Shay Cormac, in comparison to the "Apples", these Pieces of Eden served as a stabilising measure for their Temples, and the region in which they resided; once disturbed, the Pieces would disintegrate and the surrounding area almost instantly destabilized, causing an earthquake.

In 1751, François Mackandal, Mentor of the Haitian Assassins, discovered the location of a Seismic Temple in Port-au-Prince by using both the Precursor box and manuscript, and sent Vendredi to obtain any Piece of Eden he might find there. Vendredi's efforts disturbed the Piece of Eden, leading to an earthquake that destroyed the city.

By 1754, both the Precursor box and manuscript were in the possession of the Colonial Assassins, who were able to pinpoint another Temple's location in Lisbon, Portugal. Their Mentor, Achilles Davenport, sent Shay Cormac to retrieve the Temple's Piece of Eden in November 1755, assuming it to be an Apple. Shay also disturbed the Piece of Eden, causing another earthquake that destroyed the city of Lisbon and killed thousands of citizens.

At least one more of these artifacts remained, in a remote Temple in the Arctic. In 1760, Achilles and Liam O'Brientravelled to the Temple to retrieve the Piece of Eden, with Templar Grand Master Haytham Kenway and Shay Cormac in pursuit to stop their endeavour. During the altercation that followed, Liam accidentally removed the Piece of Eden from its pedestal, triggering another earthquake. Unlike the previous earthquakes, there were no reported causalities, due to the Temple's remote location.

Shards of Eden were leftover shards of Isu technology maintaining some of the power of the Pieces of Eden. The Shards were capable of possessing qualities of various different Pieces of Eden, such as Staves or Rings.

The Mayans created an armor out of scavenged Shards possessing the magnetic qualities of the Rings of Eden. The armor was recovered from Tulum by the pirate-turned-Assassin Edward Kenway at some point around 1721.[1]

When the Russian Imperial Scepter, a Staff of Eden, was destroyed during the Tunguska explosion, one shard of the artifact survived the blast and was later retrieved by Grigori Rasputin. He proceeded to use it to influence those around him, including the Imperial Romanov family. After his death, he was buried with the artifact, and it was retrieved by the Assassin Nikolai Orelov in late 1917.

The Shrouds of Eden were Pieces of Eden shaped like cloths capable of restoration and healing. The artifacts were designed by Consus, a member of the First Civilization, who created the original in the year 1923 of the Isu Era. His own consciousness was stored inside the artifact, resulting in his ability to possess the bodies of the artifact's users temporarily upon activation.

The original Shroud was described as a white cloth stained with blood, which was usually kept in a simple wooden box. The shape of a seemingly tortured man was also burned onto its surface, positioned with arms to his sides and palms forward. However, Church records noted that the man's visage changed multiple times throughout history.

Shroud of Eden #1 was a prototype Piece of Eden invented by the Isuscientist Consus in 1923 Isu Era (c. 75,383 BCE).

The Shroud was originally created in order to act as a medicinal field kit, in order to heal those who had been injured during the War of Unification. However, with the onset of Consus' natural death, the only form of injury the Shroud could not protect against, the Shroud became host to the consciousness of its creator.

The Shroud then spent the next 75,000 years in humanity's possession, and weaved its way into the cultural and religious histories of a number of societies and religions, coming into contact with, and being a focus of the desires of, both the Assassins andTemplars.

After circa 77,397 years, the Shroud, and the consciousness of its creator, was finally destroyed in 2014, when the Abstergo Industrieslaboratory in which it was being held, was destroyed by the Assassins.

The Staves of Eden were Pieces of Eden that embodied sovereignty and dominion.

Known throughout history by names such as the Papal Staff or theRussian Imperial Sceptre, the Staves were used by various EgyptianPharaohs, Roman Catholic Popes, and Russian Tsars.

    Notable wielders
    Moses
    Rodrigo Borgia
    Tsar Alexander III

The Swords of Eden were sword-like artifacts created by the Isu. These Pieces of Eden seemed to grant their bearers great power and leadership, and were most commonly used by influential humans in war and conquest.

Several conquerors and heroes in human history had been in possession of a Sword of Eden. Their users appeared to be capable of negating the effectiveness of illusions created by Apples of Eden, translocation, a form of echolocation akin to Eagle Vision, and the ability to project energy blasts at their foes.

Sword of Eden #1 was one of the Swords of Eden, sword-like artifacts created by the First Civilization scientist, Hephaestus, to fight during the War of Unification. These Pieces of Eden seemed to grant their bearers great power and leadership, and were later used by influential humans in war and conquest.

By the early 14th century the Sword was in possession of the Knights Templar. After the Templars were branded as heretics in 1307 by Pope Clement V, and the Parisian Temple was attacked by King Philip the Fair's forces, Grand Master Jacques de Molay entrusted his advisor with hiding the Sword. The advisor obliged, concealing the Sword along with de Molay's codex within a secret underground chamber, before being killed by an Assassin.

In 1794, during the French Revolution, the Sword hidden in the Parisian Temple was acquired by François-Thomas Germain, who used the Sword during his fight with Arno Dorian and Élise de la Serre. The Sword granted Germain extraordinary abilities, such as teleportation and deadly energy blasts. Unfortunately, Élise struck a blow to the Sword which destabilized its power source; the subsequent explosion demolished much of the Temple, killed Elise and mortally wounded Germain himself. Following the event, the Sword ended up in Arno's possession, though while it no longer possessed its former powers on account of the damage caused in Élise's final charge, it remained as one of the most powerful weapons in Arno's arsenal.

Sword of Eden #2 was one of the Swords of Eden, sword-like artifacts created by the First Civilization scientist, Hephaestus, to fight during the War of Unification. These Pieces of Eden seemed to grant their bearers great power and leadership, and were later used by influential humans in war and conquest.

This particular sword, which in fact looked more like a saber, was known to have been in possession of Genghis Khan, a Mongol warlord who created a vast Empire during the early 13th century. After his death, the artifact remained in Mongol hands and Hülegü Khan used it in his conquests of the Levant.

The Trident of Eden was an ancient artifact created by the Isu during human prehistory. In three parts scattered across the globe, one section of the Trident was rumored to be buried with Genghis Khan.

In the modern era, a teenager named Owen discovered the existence of the artifact through the exploration of his ancestor's memories in the Animus which pulled him into the conflict between the Assassins and Templars.Owen and a group fellow teens went in search of the Trident but the first part ended up stolen out from under Assassin and Templar forces by an unknown third element while Owen's group came apart. Some took sides with the Assassins, others with the Templars and, in the following weeks, the two factions pursued the second piece of the Trident in Mongol China.

The Voynich manuscript is an illustrated codex hand-written in First Civilization writing, and a Piece of Eden.

The Aegis was an ancient outfit belonging to Minerva, a member of theFirst Civilization. It functioned as an armor that limited ranged and melee damage while increasing blade-based damage output, leaving little wonder why the humans of ancient times believed her to be the goddess of war.

The Assassin Michel Reuge found it near Bath in England and later stored it into a vault in London. In 1868, Jacob and Evie Frye solved the puzzle of Reuge's vault by collecting all Secrets of London and Evie claimed the outfit for her own usage.

The Antikythera mechanism is a small portion of a prognostication device created by the Isu, used to make probability-based predictions of future events, otherwise known as "calculations".

The prognostication device was notably utilized by Minerva, during theCapitoline Triad's attempts to stop a solar flare from hitting the Earth in 75,000 BCE. After having been unsuccessful in finding a solution to divert the incoming disaster in time, Minerva decided to use the device to calculate the future, hoping to contact future generations to guide their efforts of preventing the next solar flare.

In doing so, she reached out to Desmond Miles by appearing before his ancestor Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the Vatican Vault in December 1499, knowing that Desmond would relive Ezio's memories in theAnimus in 2012, and informed him of the incoming threat.

After the mechanism's rediscovery at the start of the 20th century, it was believed to be an analog computing device built to determine the future positions of astral bodies, until Abstergo Industries researchers discovered its real purpose in the early 21st century.

The Baghdad Battery is the common name for First Civilization artifacts found around Mesopotamia. These batteries contained a synthetic element known as a Time Crystal, capable of harnessing energy generated by the passage of time. The crystalline material was able to generate power capable of producing light. A functioning Time Crystal has not yet been located.

Blood vials are small crystalline cubes, designed by the First Civilizationto contain the blood of an individual, for the purpose of viewing their actions through the Observatory.

Once a blood sample had been collected, it was placed inside theCrystal Skull that powered the Observatory, which would then project what the donor was seeing and hearing in real time. Thousands of these vials were stored at the Observatory, containing the blood of a number of Precursors, but they were materially worthless to anyone in conjunction with the complex, as their race had long died out and feedback from them could not be obtained.

It was for this reason that the Templars under Laureano de Torres y Ayala sought the Observatory; so that they might make use of its abilities to spy on and blackmail numerous government officials. A few vials existed beyond the Observatory's walls, as one was needed in conjunction with a sample of a Sage's blood to permit access. During Torres' rule asGrand Master of the Caribbean Templars, he made it compulsory for all Templars to donate a dram of blood within a vial, as a means for Torres to ensure that he kept control over his allies; the Grand Master himself, however, used the blood of a decoy and intentionally mislabelled it.

Following Torres' arrival at the complex in 1722, Edward saw that thousands vials were missing, prompting the Caribbean Assassins to devote their resources to locating these missing vials.

In 1868, when Evie Frye and Henry Green infiltrated Edward Kenway's mansion, among his possessions was a blood vial.

In 1916, during World War I, two German spies, led by Templars but controlled by a follower of Juno collected blood samples from a medical camp in London using blood vials.

By the 1980s, Abstergo Industries had taken great interest in securing more vials, finding dozens since then. Of all of those recovered, only three vials had the DNA inside fully intact, and only one of the three contained the blood of a First Civilization member. In 2013, Abstergo described them in an internal memo, along with other First Civilization artifacts.

In 2013, an Initiate spy obtained a blood vial from Abstergo Entertainment and escaped with it.

By 2014, Abstergo had recovered blood vials from Bartholomew Roberts’ stash. They were given to Álvaro Gramática to study the blood samples. The vials seem to have been destroyed during an Assassin attack on the Paris facility.

The Eye was a device constructed by Minerva to manipulate the underlying calculations of existence, with the ultimate aim of preventing the 2012 coronal mass ejection. However, when she learned that Junohad been tampering with the Eye for her own ends, Minerva was forced to destroy it.

During her imprisonment in the Grand Temple, Juno repaired the device to store her consciousness, and manipulated Desmond Miles, a humanwith a sufficient amount of Isu DNA, into using it so that she would be released. In the meantime, Minerva constructed a second Eye to commune with Desmond through the memories of his ancestor Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and used it for a final time to see if he would find a way to prevent the catastrophe on 21 December 2012.

Seeing that Juno had survived and manipulated Desmond into using the Eye, Minerva warned him not to activate the device, believing it would be better if the world endured another apocalypse than allow Juno to be freed. Desmond disagreed, stating that Minerva's solution would offer no hope to the world and that humanity would find a way to resist Juno's efforts, before activating the Eye and saving the world, at the cost of his own life and unleashing Juno in the process.

Only hours later, Abstergo agents recovered Desmond's body from the room. However, the Eye had disappeared from its pedestal.

The Iron Man statue is a 24 centimeter, 10 kilogram sculpture depicting the Buddhist deity Vaiśravaṇa, made from First Civilization material. Prior to World War II, the artifact was stolen from Tibet by Adolf Hitler's SS during their search for the origins of the Aryan race.

Influenced by Abstergo Industries, the media falsely reported that the statue was made from a meteorite that crashed to the Earth 15,000 years ago. After applauding Erica Nichols for her work, Alan Rikkin ordered Laetitia England to recover the statue.

The "Heart of the Brotherhood" was a First Civilization artifact that was used to activate the Prophecy Disk, taking the appearance of an oval locket, which could be opened to reveal a small portrait of Jeanne.

During the early 18th century, the medallion was in the possession of the Assassin Brotherhood on Saint Domingue. The artifact was stolen by the African slave Jeanne, who had previously turned down an offer to join the Brotherhood. Jeanne was soon sold to the Louisianan noble,Philippe de Grandpré, and took the artifact with her to New Orleans.

Jeanne became her owner's placée and sired a daughter, Aveline. After Philippe's new wife Madeleine de L'Isleinformed Jeanne that François Mackandal was seen boarding a ship bound for Louisiana, Jeanne employed Madeleine's aid and left New Orleans to flee to Chichen Itza in Mexico. Jeanne left the Heart with her daughter Aveline, who was unaware of its true nature.

Jeanne later found fragments of the Prophecy Disk during excavations of First Civilization ruins in Chichen Itza, but hid them so that they would not be found. Aveline, who became an Assassin, journeyed to Chichen Itza twice and found both halves of the disk and took them back to New Orleans. After using the Heart to activate it, Aveline witnessed a holographic recording of Eve's election as the leader of the human rebellion against the First Civilization.

The Saint-Denis Temple key was a key that unlocked an ancient temple built by the First Civilization, located beneath the town of Saint-Denis in France. The artifact needed to be used to gain access to the main hall of thetemple. It was used by Suger of Saint-Denis to gain access to the temple at some point in the early 12th century,[1]and during the later half of the 18th century, was kept in a box in the secret vault of King Louis XVI in the Tuileries Palace.[2]

On 10 August 1792, at the height of the French Revolution, the royal family was forced to abandon the Tuileries Palace when it was stormed by an angry mob. Napoleon Bonaparte secretly infiltrated the palace in hopes of obtaining the key, and with the help of the Assassin Arno Dorian, who was seeking the King's correspondence with the comte de Mirabeau, was able to locate the vault and obtain the key.[2]

By August 1794, Napoleon had managed to transfer a small army to Saint-Denis to locate the temple, and putPhilippe Rose in charge of its excavation. Arno, unwilling to let the contents of the temple fall into Napoleon's hands, stole the key from Napoleon's chest and used it to open the temple doors. After killing Rose and his men, Arno retrieved the Head of Saint Denis, with an Apple of Eden inside, which he sent to Al Mualim in Egypt for safekeeping

    Human made Artifacts

The Armor of Altaïr was an unbreakable set of armor that was constructed byAltaïr Ibn-La'Ahad using knowledge obtained from the Apple of Eden.

Subsequent to his death, the armor was sealed in the Sanctuary beneath theVilla Auditore, where it was later recovered and used by another member of theAssassin Order, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

The Eagle of Suger was a sword acquired by Arno Dorian during his time in Franciade during the French Revolution. A powerful relic imbued with the power to emit blinding flashes of light when it struck an enemy, the weapon was created using knowledge from the First Civilization.

The Head of Saint Denis was an ancient head-shaped lantern, which encased an Apple of Eden. While fueled by the Apple, the artifact emitted a shimmering blue light and possessed the power to project illusions, as well as imbue weapons with a mystical power. Following the Apple's removal, the Head of Saint Denis became a regular, but self-luminating lantern, requiring no fuel.

The Mayan Armor was a set of armor created by the Mayans during Precolombian history, through the use of scavenged First Civilization materials. Imbued with magnetic properties, the armor had the ability to deflect metal projectiles, including bullets.

The Armor was hidden in a vault in Tulum, which could only be opened with a number of keystones scattered across the West Indies. Their locations were typically marked with the presence of Mayan stelae nearby.

During the 18th century, the pirate Edward Kenway collected the keystones and claimed the armor for himself around 1721.

    Historical Correctness Gamestapo hier

Wars, events and Assassinations According to the Assassin's Creed Timeline , a.k.a historical but also very fictional

The Assassin–Templar War is a covert war waged between theAssassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order, spanning across most of the known human history.

    Ending
    Ongoing

The assassination of Julius Caesar was the end result of a conspiracy orchestrated by several members of the Roman Assassins, known as "Liberatores", which occurred on 15 March 44 BCE.

After gaining the highest political position in the Roman Republic - the Consul of the Senate - Julius Caesar declared himself the perpetual dictator in 44 BCE. Although Caesar had previously been more hospitable to the members of the Senate, with this new position he began to act more brazenly and without any regard for those he ruled over, refusing even to rise when he addressed the Senate. He also began a much more aggressive military campaign to expand the republic's holdings even further. At the center of the war effort, Rome became a militarized city.

Meanwhile, the Templar Order had also secretly supported Caesar, although he may not have even known of their existence. This attracted the attention of several Roman Assassins, most notably Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus. Together, the Assassins - at least forty of which were also members of the Senate - secretly chose to eliminate Caesar for the good of the people.

The Third Crusade (1189 – 1192), also known as the Kings' Crusade, was an attempt by European leaders to reconquer the Holy Land from Salāh ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb, better known as "Saladin" on behalf of the Western world. During this crusade, Christian forces returned to Jerusalem, which Saladin had recaptured after his decisive victory at Hattin.

King Richard, the leader of the Crusaders, began his campaign by conquering Cyprus and then triumphed at the siege of Acre, after which three thousand captives were slaughtered by his knights. The Crusaders mobilized their forces to march south to Jaffa, and then on to their ultimate goal, Jerusalem. Saladin gathered his troops before the broken citadel of Arsuf, determined to halt the Crusaders and keep Jerusalem in Muslim hands.

At the Battle of Arsuf, Richard led the Crusader army against Saladin's forces. During this time, Robert de Sablé, Grand Master of the Knights Templar, asked Richard to unite with Saladin against the Assassins, who were behind the murders of eight influential Crusaders and Saracens. Before de Sablé could complete his proposition, the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad arrived after fighting his way across the battlefield of Arsuf in search of the Templar Grand Master.

Altaïr told King Richard of de Sablé's ulterior motives, which de Sablé denied. King Richard decided that both men should fight, believing that the Lord would protect the one who spoke the truth. After a long battle, Altaïr defeated de Sablé, who then revealed that Altaïr's master, Al Mualim, was also a Templar. Following this, Altaïr left for Masyaf to confront his mentor, and King Richard bid the Assassin a safe journey.

The Fourth Crusade was an attempt by the western European Crusaders to conquer Jerusalem, which was under the control of theMuslims in 1202. However, instead of Jerusalem, the Crusaders sacked the capital of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople.

Prior to the city's sacking, the Mentor of the Levantine Brotherhood, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, had hoped to spread the Assassinideology to the Byzantine Empire, but was forced to cut his stay in Constantinople short to return to Masyaf.

The assassination of Genghis Khan was an event during the High Middle Ages in which Darim Ibn-La'Ahad, with the help of his family and the Assassin Qulan Gal, brought down and killed Genghis Khan.

The decline of the Levantine Assassins was an event which occurred in the Middle Ages, during which Abbas Sofian gained control over the Levantine Assassins, following a coup d'état circa 1227. It resulted in Abbas overthrowing the Mentor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, and subsequently forcing him into exile along with his son, Darim. During the twenty years of Abbas' reign, theAssassin Order fell into disrepute, until Altaïr eventually reclaimed his position in 1247.

The attack caused the ultimate disbandment of the Assassins residing in Masyaf, which was completely deserted before theMongols could claim their victory. Prior to the siege, the majority of the Assassin strongholds east of the Levant had already been destroyed.

The Persecution of the Templars was a purge of the French Templarsby the combined forces of the French Assassins and King Philip IV of France.

On 13 October 1307, the French Assassins, through their agent in the King's court, Guillaume de Nogaret, manipulated the Crown into declaring the Templar Order as heretical; something made all the easier by the fact that Philip IV was heavily indebted to the Templars at the time. Led by the future Mentor Thomas de Carneillon, the French Assassins, disguised as Flemish mercenaries, assaulted theTemple - headquarters to the Templar Order at the time - in Paris, and either killed or arrested all who were present.

Jacques de Molay, the Templar Grand Master and a Sage, was apprehended by the Assassins, though not before ordering his advisor to hide the Codex Pater Intellectus and a Sword of Eden.

The purge finally drew to a close on 18 March 1314, when Jacques de Molay and Geoffroi de Charney were burned at the stake, charged with heresy and worship of the idol Baphomet.

The 1402 Chinese Assassin purge was a full-scale assault on theChinese Brotherhood of Assassins in eastern China by the Yongle Emperor, under the influence of the Templar Order.

Thousands of suspected Assassins were captured and executed, including the Assassin leader Fang Xiaoru, a Confucian scholar. Li Tong was able to escape the purge in Beijing alongside an apprentice, taking an Apple of Eden with them.

The Hundred Years' War was a series of conflicts waged from 1337 to 1453 between the House of Plantagenet, rulers of England, and theHouse of Valois, rulers of France, for control of the latter kingdom.

In 1428, Jeanne d'Arc joined the conflict on the side of the French, armed with a Sword of Eden. When the Templars discovered this, they had her arrested and burned at the stake to acquire the artifact.

The Night of Sorrows (Spanish: La Noche Triste) was an event during the Spanish conquest of Mexico, in which Hernán Cortés and his army of Spanish soldiers murdered their Aztechosts in Tenochtitlan, and held their emperor, Moctezuma II, hostage.

Pretending to be a Spanish scholar, the Assassin Giovanni Borgia was allowed entrance onto Cortés' ship, earning him the chance to retrieve a Piece of Eden, which turned out to be one of the Crystal Skulls.

However, the journey resulted in a massacre of the Aztec people, when the Spanish explorers grew greedy of the wealth and riches within the city, as well as possibly being offended by the sacrificial rituals that welcomed their presence.

The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft, in Massachusetts, British America, during the period between February 1692 and May 1693. The trials resulted in the executions of twenty people.

The War of the Spanish Succession (1701 – 1714) was fought between European powers, including a divided Spain, over who had the right to succeed Charles II as King of Spain. During the conflict, nations on both sides openly exercised the use of privateers to raid merchant convoys.

The war ended with the Treaty of Utrecht in 1714; which rendered thousands of privateers unemployed. Many of these, including Edward Kenway, Edward Thatch, Benjamin Hornigold, and Charles Vane, among others, resorted to piracy in order to survive. This started the third and final "Golden Age of Piracy".

The Golden Age of Piracy was an extended period of time lasting from the 1650s to the 1730s, characterized by the excessive outbursts of piracy that occurred throughout several regions around the world, most notably in the Caribbean.

Although there had been two previous proclaimed "Golden Ages", the third and final one ranged from 1715 to the mid-1730s, and saw the rise of several infamous pirates, including Edward Thatch, better known as Blackbeard, and Bartholomew Roberts, known after his death as Black Bart.

The third Golden Age is considered to have started in 1715, with the signing of the Treaty of Utrecht between the British and Spanish empires. This rendered hundreds of privateers on either side obsolete and unemployed. Looking for a means to survive, many of the former privateers turned to piracy to support themselves. Edward Kenway, Benjamin Hornigold, Charles Vane, and Jack Rackham were among those who converted to lawlessness.

With shipping lanes established throughout the West Indies, several European powers had colonized islands and coastlines in the area, and began transporting new-found goods and treasures from their holdings back to Europe - prime targets for the new bands of roving criminals. Most pirates profited from looting these Europe-bound ships, usually filled with precious gold and silver or the region's profitable crops, such as sugar and cocoa.

Although the navies of several empires patrolled the waters for pirates, the criminals still managed to plunder countless ships, plantations, and warehouses, as well as the wrecks of ships lost in storms and battles. The loss of a Spanish fleet loaded with treasure is believed to be one of the events that helped to instigate the last Golden Age.

Notably, the pirates who were active during this Golden Age were even able to establish their own short-lived democracy in Nassau, operating without the interference of any European power. However, the fledgling republic was disbanded by the Governor Woodes Rogers in 1718, who was even able to convince three hundred pirates to accept a royal pardon. Some of these pirates returned to service under the crown as pirate hunters, devoted to tracking down and eliminating their former allies.

As the most notorious pirate captains eventually died out or accepted royal pardons, the last Golden Age finally came to an end in the 1730s, although piracy in general would continue.

The 1751 Port-au-Prince earthquake was a seismic event that occurred on 21 November in Saint-Domingue, followed by a sea wave. The earthquake was caused by the defense mechanism of an Isu site, which was triggered by the Assassin Vendredi, who was sent to explore the site on orders of his Mentor François Mackandal. While Vendredi attempted to make his escape, he was trapped by falling debris and killed by the Templar Lawrence Washington.[1]

The Assassin Adéwalé later returned to Port-au-Prince[2] with supplies from the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassins.[1] While there, he met and recruited his 15-year old son Babatunde Josèphe into the Brotherhood.

The Seven Years' War (1754-1763), also known as the War of the Conquest in four continents, was a world war and among the first truly global armed military conflicts, between several nations in Europe, most notably Great Britain and France, and their colonies. Other belligerents included Portugal, Spain, Russia, Prussia, Austria, the Holy Roman Empire, and several Iroquois tribes in North America, as part of the war’s more local conflict.[1] It also occured in the Mediterranean Sea, several Europen trenches, rival African colonies and the eastAsian colonies, including the Middle East, India and the East Indies.

The war began in 1754 as the result of shifting political borders and alliances in Europe, coupled with the efforts of several nations to secure lands beyond Britain's Thirteen Colonies. The war didn't begin on an international scale until 1756 and ended in 1763 and is where the conflict gets its name, even though it technically lasted for nine years. Fighting soon broke out both in Europe and in and around North America; theaters ranged from Canada to the West Indies and from the eastern Atlantic coast to the Russian city of Moscow. The infamous French and Indian War was part of the conflict, specifically the North American theater, where France allied with native Iroquois tribes to stop the British advance westward. In Europe, the war was largely fought with sieges and arson along with several open battles.

Several key historical figures were involved in the war, including the future President of the United States, George Washington; theTemplars Haytham Kenway, Edward Braddock, William Johnson, John Pitcairn, and Charles Lee also participated in the conflict, several of them earning reputation, influence, and power from their involvement. The Assassin-turned-Templar Shay Cormac was also active during the war, as was the French Assassin and soldier Pierre Bellec. By the war's end, the Assassin–Templar War had intensified dramatically, and the Colonial Rite of the Templar Order had all but destroyed theColonial Assassins.

The war officially ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763, granting the victorious Great Britain and her allies several holdings throughout the Americas. Spain also emerged a victor, and was given French Louisiana, among other lands.

Despite their victory, Britain's mounting costs from the war, and her efforts to recoup the costs from the colonies, eventually contributed to a growing colonial resentment; years later, this would set the stage for the American Revolutionary War in 1775.

The French and Indian War was a military conflict between 1754 and 1763, which took place between the armies and Native American allies of both the British Empire's colonies, and their French colonial counterparts in not only present day United States and Canada but also in the Caribbean and to a lesser extent, the Arctic Ocean.

A theater of the much wider Seven Years' War, the conflict ended with the official signing of the Treaty of Paris on 15 February, and the ceding of Canada and Florida to Britain, ensuring the survival of the Thirteen Colonies.

The war was fought primarily along the frontiers, separating New France from the British colonies spanning Virginia to Nova Scotia. This conflict involved Templars manipulation, with the perpetrators composing of Haytham Kenway, William Johnson, Shay Cormac and others. In contrast, the Colonial Assassins allied themselves primarily with the French-native alliance, and helped them in several conflicts, most notably the Siege of Fort William Henry.

The armies marched their way through different forts during theBraddock Expedition, an ambush led by Edward Braddock.

In 1760, the French Empire sold the west side of New France to the Spanish Empire, that bordered Mexico, which they renamed Spanish Louisiana.

At the end of the conflict, numerous British soldiers were killed, including Edward Braddock, as a result of an assassination plot created by Haytham.

At the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1763, the Thirteen Colonies had successfully conquered New France and expanded into unharmed Indian territory, where they continued to displace the natives. Some indigenous tribes were forced to migrate as far west as Spanish Louisiana, where they presumably assimilated with the local tribes.

The British had also taken over French Canada, that bordered the frontier of Rupert's Land, along with Canada's northeastern islands that bordered the Arctic Ocean and most of the French islands in the Caribbean and the west of Spanish Florida, which the British renamed West Florida. However, they were all separate nations from the Thirteen Colonies. After the war, all that remained of the French Empire in North America were Haiti and the two Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique

The 1755 Lisbon earthquake was a seismic event that occurred in the city of Lisbon on 1 November 1755. The earthquake was caused by the disturbance of the mechanism of an Isu Temple situated under theCarmo Convent. It was triggered by the Assassin Shay Cormac, who was tasked by Achilles Davenport, the Mentor of the Colonial Assassins, to retrieve the Piece of Eden which was supposedly located within in the Temple.

In the aftermath of the earthquake, thousands of people lost their lives and homes, Lisbon was nearly entirely levelled, and Shay blamed himself and Achilles for the tragedy. Convinced that other cities would meet the same fate as Lisbon and Haiti if the Assassins were allowed to continue their search for First Civilization sites, Shay decided to steal the Voynich manuscript from the Davenport Homestead, since the Assassins would not be able to find more Temples without it.

The Colonial Assassin purge (1757 - 1763) was a full-scale assault on the Assassin Brotherhood in the Thirteen Colonies by the Colonial Riteof the Templar Order, led by Grand Master Haytham Kenway.

The American Revolutionary War (1775 – 1783), also known as theAmerican War for Independence, began as a conflict between theBritish Empire and the British colonies in North America, soon developing into a clash on a global scale that involved several of the great European powers. Following its conclusion, many of the European powers officially recognized the independence of the newly formed United States of America.

The war was a result of the political revolution stemming from theStamp Act of 1765, which the colonists held as unconstitutional because of their lack of representation in the Parliament of Great Britain. The colonists claimed that there could be no taxation without representation and that they had the right to a degree of self-governance, while the Parliament claimed that they represented all citizens of the British Empire, granting them "virtual representation" - a practice the colonists translated into "taxation without representation".

Thus, Parliament continued to tax the colonists, until the tax on tea led to the Boston Tea Party in 1773, which was followed promptly by the Intolerable Acts as a punishment for the movement. Parliament also disbanded the civilian colonial government in Massachusetts and put the colony under the direct military control of British Army General Thomas Gage, headquartered in Boston.

The French Revolution was a period of social and political upheaval in France from 1789 to 1799. It was caused by the extravagance of the aristocracy, fueled by famine and economic turmoil, which gradually enraged the French masses and eventually sparked the revolution. The event saw the abolishment of the Ancien Régime and the French monarchy, and established principles of inalienable rights in the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen.

After the abolishment of the Kingdom of France, the French Republic was founded, but this gave way to many upheavals and executions. Furthermore, the major powers of Europe felt threatened by the new republic's revolutionary ideals, and waged war on France, taking advantage of its destabilized government. In the wake of the ensuing chaos, the French Empire was founded by Napoleon Bonaparte, who used an Apple of Eden to expand the holdings of his new empire.

The Revolution itself was started by François-Thomas Germain in a coup against François de la Serre for the role of Grand Master of theTemplars. The goal behind beginning the revolution was to bring in a new middle-class leadership to the Templars instead of the previous aristocratic leaders, and to show humanity the horrors of unrestrained free will so that they would prefer control above all else. In this sense, even though order was not fully achieved by the Templars in that era, the revolution was a success regardless, as leadership did pass, and peace for the Assassin–Templar War was not achieved.

The Haitian Revolution (1791 – 1804) was the final and most decisive in a long line of slave revolts in the French colony of Saint-Domingue; culminating in the elimination of slavery in the colony, and the founding of the Republic of Haiti. The revolutionaries were led by several members of the Assassin Order, including Toussaint Louverture and Eseosa.

In early 1801, the Templar Jean-Louis Villatte tried to take advantage of the power vacuum that existed in Haiti and declared himself governor. By early August however, Jean had been deposed and replaced by Louverture, who declared himself absolute ruler of the island.

Although Louverture freed all of the slaves on the island, he also attracted the attention of the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, who sent his general Charles Leclerc to the island to secure the surrender of the revolutionary leaders. Louverture capitulated and was taken to France as a prisoner while Leclerc restored the colonial hierarchy.

However, Leclerc failed to disarm Louverture's troops and they rose up once again. After Eseosa poisoned Leclerc, Louverture's lieutenant Jean-Jacques Dessalines finally ousted the French from the island, bringing the Revolution to a successful conclusion. In the aftermath, Dessalines became the new leader of Saint-Domingue and declared the island a free republic, although he immediately began a brutal extermination campaign against the whites and mulattoes that still lived on the island.

The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes, spanning the late 18th to the early to mid 19th century. The Industrial Revolution marked the start of, among other new inventions, machine production and improved efficiency of steam and water power.

During the timespan of the Industrial Revolution, the Templars were taking a leading role over humanity, influencing and developing many of the industrial inventions made during the revolution, most notably the emergence of capitalism.

In the latter half of the Industrial Revolution, primarily the early 20th century, inventors such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Nikola Tesla made great advancements in both industry and technology; however, a great deal of these innovations were the result of an Apple of Eden that passed between the three of them.

The Battle of Balaclava, fought on 25 October 1854, was a military engagement between the Russian Empire, and the allied forces ofBritish, Ottoman, and Second French Empire, during the Crimean War.

With Allied forces settling in for a long siege of the coastal city of Sevestapol, the British, under Lord Raglan, took Balaclava and the right flank of the siege. Realizing the British were understrength, Russian forces charged the British defences and managed to capture several redoubts and their artillery pieces.

In an attempt to recapture the redoubts, Lord Raglan gave order toLord Lucan, who commanded the cavalry forces, to send the Light Brigade to harry the Russian forces who had seized the artillery positions on the south side of the battlefield. Lord Lucan subsequently ordered his brother-in-law, James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan, to harry the Russian forces; unfortunately for the British, Lucan's messenger didn't deliver the information clearly enough. Lord Cardigan dutifully led the charge of the Light Brigade against a heavily fortified Russian artillery position at the end of the valley, resulting in casualties in excess of 40%.

The standing fast of a thinly-spread Scottish regiment, the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, against a Russian cavalry charge, is the origin of the modern phrase 'Thin Red Line', to describe the situation when bravado alone can result in an unlikely victory.

The American Civil War (1861 – 1865) was an armed military conflict in the United States of America. The war began when the several Southern states elected to secede from the rest of the country in 1861 to form the Confederate States of America for multiple reasons. The war ended four years later with the victory of the northern states.

Several causes, such as the issues of slavery, and states' rights, led to the conflict, which eventually culminated with the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln after the war's end by the Templar-affiliated John Wilkes Booth, who in turn was tracked down and killed by Assassins.

The American Civil War was a point of interest for the Animus Project, and a number of Subjects chosen for it, including Clay Kaczmarek and Desmond Miles, had ancestors who had participated in the conflict. Additionally, Abstergo Entertainment supervisor Melanie Lemay also had a great-great-grandfather who was known to have come into contact with Lincoln a number of times as a Union soldier during the conflict.

World War I (1914 – 1918 ), also known as the First World War or the Great War, was an armed military conflict initially between several European nations and their colonial empires, which soon expanded to include a number of countries from across the globe.

Principally, the conflict was fought between the two major alliances; the Triple Entente, comprising the United Kingdom,France, and Russia, and the Triple Alliance of Germany andAustria-Hungary. Although Italy had also been a member of the Triple Alliance, it did not join the Central Powers, as Austria-Hungary had taken the offensive against the terms of the alliance.

The war began after the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir presumptive Franz Ferdinand by the Serb nationalist group, theBlack Hand. The death of Franz Ferdinand led to tensions between the European nations, leading to war.[1]

This conflict, like so many before and after it, was heavily influenced by the ongoing Assassin–Templar War, with members of each Order fighting on either side. Notably, during the Christmas truce of 1914, a Templar named Erich Albert, General in the German Army, was assassinated by a British Assassin just moments after the two had worked together to save a wounded soldier's life.[2]

The war also affected London, with Zeppelin raids bringing destruction to the city throughout the conflict. In 1916, at the behest of Winston Churchill, the Assassin Lydia Frye eliminated a German spy ring operating around Tower Bridge. The spy ring was led by a Templar Master Spy, who eventually fell to Lydia's blade.

The Philadelphia Project, also known as the Philadelphia Experiment or Project Rainbow, was a 20th century United States naval military experiment that occurred at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The experiment in 1943 attempted to make the Navy Destroyer Escort USS Eldridge become invisible, teleport and travel through time.

According to an email from Abstergo Industries' Alan Rikkin, the use of a Piece of Eden on board allowed the ship to manifest itself in a future state for approximately 18 minutes, though the experiment somehow damaged the Piece in the process.

Rikkin stated that Abstergo had recovered enough data needed to repair the artifact between 1943 and 2012; however, Abstergo's Administration branch refused to move on with the project, citing paradox concerns. Rikkin finished the email by stating that company policy dictated any object with the capability to manipulate time had to be contained, thus the Piece of Eden was moved to a secure storage location.

The assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was an event organized by the Templars, who wanted to remove Kennedy with the intention of taking control of the United States.

John F. Kennedy was the President during the 1960s, a time where America was determined to send a man to the Moon, safely landing and then returning to Earth; this was very important for the Templars as they knew of a Piece of Eden that was located on the Moon. Unfortunately for them, Kennedy did not share their motives and so this proved 'inconvenient' to them.

Also, Kennedy's suspicions regarding the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) proved to be a factor contributing to the Templars' need to get rid of him. He reportedly cut their funding and wanted to find out what they were really doing, therefore worrying the Templars.

The "Great Purge" was an Abstergo Industries operation with the intent to ensure the global eradication of the Assassin Order. After Daniel Cross, a Templar sleeper agent, was allowed to meet the Mentor of the Assassins, he acted upon an impulse implanted into his brain by Abstergo to kill the Mentor.

Successful in his objective, Daniel returned to Abstergo'sPhiladelphia facility and revealed the locations of all the Assassin camps he had come into contact with over the previous two years, after which Abstergo initiated the "Great Purge" - the elimination of this global network of camps. While mostly successful in his goals, Daniel had not visited a number of camps, allowing them to remain unscathed. The few remaining Assassins were forced into hiding, and from then on, they began operating in small cells.

The War on Terror is an ongoing military campaign, conducted by several NATO-coalition nations, that is focused on the Middle East with the intent to eliminate both terrorist organizations and the government regimes that support them. The war began in late 2001, after the terrorist attacks on 11 September of that year.

Sometime during the conflict, the Assassin Emmanuel Barraza was tasked by the Assassin leader William Miles with finding the Templars' presence behind the war. During the mission, Barraza was forced to eliminate a bus full of bomb-rigged children, leading him to vow to never again take another human life.

The Beagle 2 was a landing spacecraft launched by the European Space Agency to search for evidence of life on Mars in the year 2000. It was named for the HMS Beagle that Charles Darwin sailed on.

Two years prior, Vanessa, a worker at the British Landing Operations Control Centre was bribed by Robert Getas so she could quit her job and spend more time with her children.

When the Beagle 2 landed on 25 December 2003, Vanessa routed all signals to her laptop, causing her fellow employees to assume the landing was a failure. Using the holidays as an excuse to leave early, she then handed over the laptop to Getas. Getas subsequently thanked her by having a man from Abstergo's Lineage Discovery and Acquisition division kidnap her, after she had mentioned she was actually descended from Charles Darwin.

The Denver International Airport satellite accident, or the DIA satellite accident, was an incident that took place in an underground Abstergo Industries facility beneath Denver International Airport sometime before October 2011, that resulted in a large number of casualties and the destruction of one of the Isu's Pieces of Eden – an Apple of Eden.

Daniel Cross, the Project Lead working on an experiment involving the Eye-Abstergo satellite, fell under the influence of the project's Apple of Eden and killed everyone in the facility before the company's clean-up crew had arrived. The artifact was ultimately destroyed. Dr. Warren Vidic was responsible for preparing the final report of the incident.

At least one civilian, believed to have been a baggage handler at the time, found out about the incident. By 4 September 2012, this survivor threatened to expose Abstergo's involvement in the event.

Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection to run at 1080p, 30 FPS

    Slow down, Ezio!

While we've already reported on the rumor of an Assassin's Creed remastered collection hitting PS4 and Xbox One, it looks like the game got confirmed via a French publication called Gameblog. Google translate may not be the best at working out text, but some nice details are revealed in the post, including mentions of a November 2016 release date along with 1080p resolution and a 30 frames per second lock.

This collection contains Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin's Creed Revelations. The post also mentions that all DLC will be included for each game and the package will contain both of the films that feature Ezio (those being Assassin's Creed: Lineage and Assassin's Creed: Embers). The price is, supposedly, 70 euros. That would be roughly 80 US dollars, but I doubt Ubisoft would charge that much.

While I actually kind of enjoyed Assassin's Creed II, I don't know if there is much point in porting this with such a low frame rate. The only tangible improvement will be in texture quality, which should be fine as Assassin's Creed II has always been an ugly game.

There isn't anything about whether or not the multiplayer will be carried over, but if we go by some other HD collections as of late, I'm going to say no. I suppose this is still a rumor, so take most of the news with a grain of salt.

Because they can.

groups working with the Assassins or the Templars

Erudito, also dubbed the*Erudito Collective, is a hacking collective who at one point operated in opposition to the*Templar-run*Abstergo Industries.

Though it was originally unclear whether Erudito was one or many people, evidence suggested that a collection of several independent users was more likely, which was later confirmed through their correspondence to an individual who appealed to Abstergo's aims.*

Despite this, the members who made up the Erudito Collective were united by their common purpose, to reveal the truths censored by Abstergo in its products.

Erudito makes use of a wide variety of means of communication, including*emails, to spread their information. At times, members also directly contacted members of the*Assassins, such asDesmond Miles, as well as participants in Abstergo's*Project Legacy*and*Animus Project.

In 2016, the group returned to operation, after a notable slack in activity, though their renewed purpose is as of yet unknown.

The Assassin's Creed movie's robot claw Animus might end up in the games

While it looks like the*Assassin’s Creed movie*is sticking to most of the stealthy rules of the franchise - hood, check, blades, check - one thing that was immediately different in the trailer was Abstergo’s Animus. If you don’t speak fluent Assassin, that’s the device that Michael Fassbender’s Callum Lynch gets strapped into to relive the memories of his 15th century ancestor Aguilar. Instead of just being a minimalist sofa like in the games, the movie has an enormous animatronic claw. But why?

The answer is simple. Lying down on what looks like a new purchase from Ikea understandably just wasn’t cinematic enough. “For ages, we were like, ‘What are we going to do with the Animus?’” Michael Fassbender says in an interview in the new issue of Total Film magazine - on sale now. “At one point I thought of this idea where we’d be in a fluid tank, almost like a womb. But what the guys came up with is fantastic. Ubisoft are talking about putting it in their future games.”

When I spoke to ex Ubi Motion Pictures head, Jean-Julien Baronnet last year, he too teased that the development teams were excited after a set visit and were keen to bring some new lore across to the games. “I can tell you that the Assassin’s Creed team came on set and when they saw some stuff they were very inspired,” he said.*

“I’m sure we’ll have some bridge from the movie to the game, but it’s their decision but I think they really liked it.” The sofa Fassbender’s Lynch wakes up on in the trailer looks a lot like the version of the Animus in the games so there’s still a nod and a wink there. It’ll be interesting to see what next year’s Creed project has in store. A year’s break and a movie to compete with might bring us something just a little bit different.*Oh, and did I mention that all the*Assassin's Creed movie's historical sequences are in Spanish?*
Yes please Let it be.
